FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How far in advance do I need to order?
I am a teeny business, just me, so whilst I love baking for as many people as I can, there is a physical limit to what I can do each week!
I ask for two weeks notice if at all possible. For larger or more complex cakes please try to give at least 1 months notice. During wedding season (April-October) weekends get very busy and are booked up well in advance. You can always hold a date in my diary, even before you decide the details of your cake.
If you need a cake in a hurry, do call me and I’ll see what I can do, but please bear with me.
Please note that Quick Order Classics, bespoke Special Occasion cakes, and cupcakes are available for collection from THURSDAY 9am - SATURDAY 4pm. Delivery is also available during this period but is subject to availability.
What flavours can I choose?
You can choose almost any flavour, from chocolate to rose, carrot to green tea. If you love it let me know and I’ll see what I can do. Check out the list of the best-selling cakes HERE, but please contact me if you’d like something different.

Can you deliver my cake?
I certainly can. I love to deliver cakes right to your table; to see your face when you open the box. It fills me with joy, but it also takes time.
Delivery costs TBC
Can I collect my cake?
Absolutely. You're more than welcome to pop round and collect your cake at your convenience. I've even created a handy 'cake collection guide' to help you do the best for your cake once it leaves The Cake Tin. Check out the guide here
How do I order a cake?
You can email your order through at any time. I find it very difficult to answer the phone when I'm baking, but if you drop me a text with a brief outline of what you're looking for, I'll be able to get back to you when I have clean hands!
When and how do I pay for my cake?
You can pay for your cake by bank transfer or cash on delivery. For orders over $200, if you choose to pay by cash I will ask for a small deposit to secure the order. This must be made by bank transfer.
How long will my cake last after I receive it?
An uncut cake will last around 5 days. Of course once you cut it up and your friends get a mouthful it’ll be gone in no time anyway! If there is any left after your event, pop it in airtight box to keep it fresh for longer. Once cut, the cake is best eaten within 3 days.
How can I be sure that my cake is gluten free if you cook traditional cakes too?
My kitchen is not completely gluten free, but I never cook a gluten free cake at the same time as any item that contains gluten. Separate utensils and storage ensure that gluten free items don't come into contact with anything that could cause cross contamination.
How can I be sure my cake is vegan if you use eggs and dairy products in your kitchen?
I do use eggs and dairy products in the kitchen but not at the same time as baking your vegan cake. Vegan ingredients are stored separately to non-vegan items, and vegan baking never comes into contact with any item than could cause cross contamination.
