Congratulations on your engagement..... xxx
Your wedding day is a chance to enjoy all your favourite things with all your favourite people; a fact I think should be reflected in your cake. While it's vital that your cake is an absolute showstopper, it's not all about show. You should be looking forward to tucking into your cake too. That's is why I'm so passionate about making sure what's inside is just as beautiful as what's on the outside. Wedding cakes can be any combination of flavours and colours you like, they can be tall or short, naked or iced, four tiers or one tier, white or brightly coloured, eaten for dessert or eaten just by you! |
DESIGN & DECORATION
I delight in the magic that occurs when a good sponge cake meets creamy butter icing, which is why I specialise in butter-iced, semi-naked and naked wedding cakes. When you work with me, you can expect decorations like fresh flowers (edible if possible), fresh fruit, gold leaf, chocolate drip, and homemade treats like macaron and cookies.
Take a look at my GALLERY for some examples of my work.
FLAVOURS
You'll find a list of the most popular flavours HERE, but you can choose anything you fancy. Each tier is completely separate so the flavours don't have to 'match'.
TASTING BOX
If you're not exactly sure which flavours you fancy, why not have a TASTING BOX.
HOW MUCH CAKE DO I NEED?
One of the earliest question I always get asked when talking about wedding cakes is "how many tiers should we have?"
Of course you can have as many as you like, and even if you're having a small wedding, there are ways to make you a traditional tiered cake without leaving you with hundreds of leftover portions.
There are lots of opinions about how many portion you get from each tier (and of course it depends how big you or your venue staff cut them) but I use the figures below. I would recommend planning for your guest numbers plus 10%. You'll always get some folk who, like me, go back for seconds and thirds (shhhh) and some who want to take cake home for the following day. Plus many couples don't actually get time to enjoy cake at their wedding reception and many venues will kindly keep you some back to enjoy later.
You may also want to keep the top tier in the freezer to enjoy on your first anniversary.
**PLEASE NOTE**
These numbers are based on a wedding cake where each tier is four layers tall. You can adjust the number of portions by changing the height of the tiers. There are of course also other combinations to those listed below. Just let me know your numbers and I'll suggest the best options.
The classic wedding cake
10" 8" 6"
120-140 portions
The mini classic
8", 6" 4"
70-90 portions
Small but still perfectly formed
8" 6"
60-80 portions
Going all out
10" 8" 6" 4"
150-160 portions
More room for decoration
9" 7" 5"
100-120 portions
All my cakes are made to order just before your big day so will stay fresh for around 4 days after your wedding. I never freeze my cakes, so you can also freeze any leftovers at home.
TOO MUCH CAKE?!!
If you want to go for a traditional tiered cake but don't have that many guests coming to your special day, you can opt for a fake bottom tier. No-one will even know, as long you don't try to serve it!!
You'll bring the portions down by 30-50% but still get your beautiful tiered cake

COST
I work out the cost of every cake individually, based on the exact design, the flavour of the cake, the number of portions you need and the number of hours it will take to design, bake and decorate your special creation.
I recommend thinking about your cake in terms of portions, rather than tiers - as you can have a three tier cake serving 80 or one serving 200! I recommend budgeting around £3 per portion for a simple semi-naked floral design or around £5 for a fully iced more involved, elaborate design.
Below are some guide prices, but please remember, the cost of your cake will depend on the final design we create together.
Single tier 7" (30 portions) £100
Two tier 8" 6" (80 portions) £260
Three tier 10" 8" 6" (120 portions) £380
Four tier 10" 8" 6" 4" (160 portions) £500
